Another Mother for Peace

The Another Mother for Peace Pax Materna

— OUT OF STOCK —

In May 1969 the first annual Mother's Day Assembly was held in Los Angeles where AMP unveiled a Pax Materna, "a permanent, irrevocable condition of amnesty and understanding among mothers of the world."

For Mother's Day 2005, AMP has released a limited number of original Pax Materna mini-posters (dated 1985). A beautiful field of purple with the words "A Pax Materna" appears at the top of this tall and narrow work of art. Below the heading it states "No mother is an enemy to another mother." The body of the poster consists of the AMP logo sunflower "War is Not Healthy for Children and Other Living Things" translated into twenty languages. On the reverse is the text of the Pax Materna:

I JOIN WITH MY SISTERS IN EVERY LAND
IN THE PAX MATERNA -
A PERMANENT DECLARATION OF PEACE
THAT TRANSCENDS OUR IDEOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES.
IN THE NUCLEAR SHADOW, WAR IS OBSOLETE.
I WILL NO LONGER SUFFER IT IN SILENCE
NOR SUSTAIN IT BY COMPLICITY.
THEY SHALL NOT SEND MY SON
TO FIGHT ANOTHER MOTHER'S SON.
FOR NOW, FOREVER, THERE IS NO MOTHER
WHO IS ENEMY TO ANOTHER MOTHER.

The languages featured are: English, Vietnamese, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Hebrew, Arabic, German, Italian, Greek, Hindi, Hausa, Swedish, Swahili, Portuguese, Czech, Japanese and French.
